 ## Hassan Hates Portland

Portland has a long and sordid history of overt, systemic racism\*. As the city tries to atone for its many sins, some folks can be a bit too woke about it, to the point of caricature. *[Hassan Hates Portland](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9jZY80TpEsg&list=PL9Br5EdbHt_GlcsKvD8FO1eUjc_Ak506V&ab_channel=JumptownTV)* is a web series featuring content but annoyed Hassan, who is bombarded by wokeness everywhere he goes.

\* Not all racism is systemic, of course, but redlining sure is.

 

 ## Portlandia

Some people had their first exposure to Portland through the IFC (Independent Film Channel) series *[Portlandia](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YsufMtUOXtI&ab_channel=IFC)*. Each show is a series of skits, some with recurring characters, about Portland. *Portlandia* makes fun of the city's hipsters, snobbery, irreverence, overly woke attitudes, food culture, dating, tribalism, and so much more. Some Portlanders hate it, perhaps because it's too accurate.

The above skit, "Colin the Chicken," still holds up (I think).
